Drawn Up At Home Presents: Eggnog

Separating the Eggs

First separate four eggs and seal the egg whites in the fridge. Whisk the yolks with a third of a cup of sugar until light in color.

Preparing the Mixture

In a pot over medium heat, stir together milk, whipping cream, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla. Temper the mixture with the yolks a bit at a time to avoid scrambled eggs. Cook over low heat until it reaches 160 degrees or sticks well to the back of a spoon.

Adding Egg Whites

Refrigerate the mixture until chilled. Once cooled, beat the egg whites with a tablespoon of sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold the egg whites into the rest of the eggnog mixture.

Final Touch

Lastly, add the essential ingredient that makes eggnog drinkable – rum. Enjoy the milky, eggy goodness of homemade eggnog!
