Our GROSSEST Base Yet! Dirty Maggot Bases!

Creating Disgusting Bases

Hey guys, Jay here! Welcome to Eons of Battle. In this video, I want to show you how to make some disgusting maggot-covered bases. The first step is to apply a little elevation using my favorite tool, Crayola Model Magic soft squishy modeling material. This air-dry foam clay sticks well to plastic with super glue. I applied this clay to all three bases and they were ready for the next step.

Adding Details

I covered the surfaces in wood glue, as it’s a little tougher when dry than Elmer’s glue. Next, I pressed some skulls into the still wet Crayola Model Magic to make it look like they were old and sinking into the ground. I finished off the bases with a sprinkling of fine-grained sand.

Creating Maggots

To make the maggots, I prepared some green stuff by mixing the two halves together until it turned green. I rolled it into a tube and cut it into small sections. Using my green stuff texture rollers, I created ribbed maggots by rolling the cylinders and applying even pressure to get the ridges.

Painting the Bases

After letting the textured putty sit for about 45 minutes to an hour to harden, I cut off small maggot-sized sections and applied them to the bases with super glue. I used a pencil to create an indent for the mouth of the maggots. Once all the maggots were in place, I primed the bases white with an airbrush and painted the ground with watery red, blue, and black paints.

For the maggots, I used white paint to correct any splashes of color and then tinted them with a watery blue paint to give them a pale complexion. Finally, I painted the rim of the base black to complete the look. These bases are perfect for Death Guard from 40K or some Maggot King of Nurgle from Age of Sigmar.
