Top 5 Things I Hate About My 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost

Introduction:
Hey guys, this is Dan with Gears and Gadgets. Thanks for tuning in. Today, I want to talk about the top five things that I hate about my 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost. This truck has been the best and most expensive truck I’ve ever owned. After putting enough miles on it, I feel like I’m in a position to discuss some of the areas that I think can be improved.

1. Software:
The truck comes with the SYNC 4 system, which is a nice big screen and an awesome feature. However, the software updates have been limited. As a newer platform, I expected more updates to address bugs and improve performance. There have only been two updates since I got the truck, and they were mostly behind-the-scenes changes. Some features, like the scheduling feature for the security alert, don’t work at all. This lack of software updates is frustrating, as it leaves certain bugs unresolved.

2. Door Handles:
The truck only has a sensor on the front door handles. So, if you have your key fob in your pocket, you can easily open the front door. However, the rear door handles don’t have this feature. This means that you have to unlock the front door first and then open the back door separately. It may not seem like a big deal initially, but after a few weeks of ownership, it becomes an annoyance, especially when you’re carrying bags or have kids getting in and out of the back seat frequently.

3. Shifter:
When I ordered this truck, I was impressed by the folding shifter and the work surface it provides. However, the actual shifting experience is disappointing. The shifter feels vague, and I’m not sure what’s going on internally. I even had the shifter replaced under warranty, but the new one is just as bad as the original. While the folding mechanism works fine, the shifting itself needs improvement.

4. Sync System Issues:
Apart from the lack of software updates, there are some other issues with the SYNC system. For example, the lane keep assist feature and cruise control sometimes reset to their default settings after cycling the ignition on and off. This means that I have to manually turn on these features every time I start the truck. Additionally, the scheduling feature for the security alert doesn’t work at all, resulting in constant notifications on my phone whenever I open the door, even if the key fob is with me. These issues can be easily fixed through software updates, but Ford has yet to address them.

5. Lack of Rear Seat Comfort:
While the front seats are comfortable, the rear seats leave much to be desired. The cushioning is too firm, and there is limited legroom for taller passengers. Considering that the F-150 is often used as a family vehicle, it’s disappointing that the rear seats aren’t as comfortable as they could be.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, while the 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost is an impressive truck with many great features, there are some aspects that I believe need improvement. The limited software updates, lack of rear door handle sensors, vague shifter, SYNC system issues, and uncomfortable rear seats are the top five things that frustrate me about this truck. Despite these drawbacks, I still consider it the best truck I’ve ever owned, but I hope Ford takes note of these issues and addresses them in future models.
