2. The Sober Playmate CJ Sparxx – The Michael Sartain Podcast
# CJ Sparks: The Transition to Sobriety
## A Podcast Dream Come True
I’m excited because when I came up with the idea for this podcast, my guest today is one of the reasons why I wanted to do it in the first place. I had always dreamed of the two of us hosting a podcast for Playboy Radio or something like that, and I finally have her in the studio. If she lived here, she would be my permanent co-host. But she is here, she’s one of my best friends in the world. This is Miss CJ Sparks, that’s what we’re going to call her.
## The Intelligent and Funny Girls
One of the things that I love about having CJ on, and hopefully later we can get Kylie Meyers on here, is that these girls are very intelligent and extremely funny. CJ and Kylie are probably two of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my entire life. But they don’t always get an opportunity to show it when performing on social media. When you’re doing your IG story, a lot of times when I hang out with Kylie, she’ll start posing, and I keep waiting for her to start laughing. But she’s always working, she always looks like she’s on the verge of just…she looks like she’s in on the joke that she’s kind of playing on everybody else.
## The Act and Perception
There’s a secret underground where a lot of guys have this feeling about these girls. It’s kind of the act that you have to put out there for some of the audience. If a girl talks too much or if she’s a bit of a know-it-all, then men and sometimes other people get intimidated. It kind of feels like if you have big fake tits, you’re not allowed to be smart. But none of those individuals are going to be listening to this podcast, I will tell you that right now. When you and I first met, I’m trying to think the very first time we met would have been the 2015 Maxim party, right?
## CJ’s Transition to Sobriety
Now, I remember fun, crazy CJ, and she’s still fun, but there was a difference. This CJ was a different CJ. What has been the transition for you in the last two years? Well, I had to get sober, otherwise, I was just going to be a lady sitting alone in my room watching Netflix comedy specials and railing lines off my computer alone. There were multiple moments where I knew I had to change things up. I remember not even wanting to get dressed up to go out because when we met, it was a few years prior to me getting sober. So, the transition for CJ in the past few years has been significant.
## Drugs and Perception
I’m uniquely suited to this because I don’t drink or do any drugs. I’ve never even tried any drugs. But all my friends, when I host these parties, when I go to these different parts, I don’t expect them to stay sober. Drugs don’t necessarily inherently have to be bad. I was just using them wrong. If you can do it well, that’s great. But for me, it was a different story. I remember being unable to do my modeling because I just didn’t care to get dressed up and go out. In L.A. and even in Vegas, getting dressed up is a big thing. Girls want to get done up to the nines, have a good time, and enjoy the quintessential girl night out.
