If your government doesn’t look like you, even to a small extent, it’s hard for your issues and your voices to be brought to the table. We need to be heard. We have issues, we have problems, we have concerns that need to be raised and we’re not going to get those raised if we don’t have representation.
Challenges and Rewards of Being a Mom and Mayor
Being a mom and having a job and working in municipal politics and being a mayor, volunteer mayor, for our community, it’s challenging, it’s rewarding, it’s fun. Bringing babies to council meetings, bringing toddlers, and showing them the importance of community service and the endless possibilities for women to achieve their dreams through hard work and dedication.

Despite initial doubts about age and gender barriers in politics, it’s important to remember that anyone can make a difference in their community by getting involved and being engaged. Volunteering, putting your name out there, and having conversations with others can lead to personal growth and a stronger community.
